Hybrid role, working from Huntingdon or Lincoln

Anglian Water offers a flexible approach, this role provides you the flexibility to work from home and from an Anglian Water office. Your base location will be in ether Huntingdon or Lincoln, depending on your location.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer to join our growing team. The Cloud Engineer is accountable for the day to day technical operations of Anglian Water's Cloud infrastructure including implementation, change, maintenance and optimisation of our digital products.

You will leverage cloud native management tools and techniques to optimise the cloud platform and automate the provisioning, testing and deployment of new and enhanced infrastructure as well as automating and scripting routine operating procedures.

Working with the Service Line Delivery Team, the Cloud Engineer will contribute to the prioritisation and implementation of infrastructure changes and will actively seek opportunities to drive continuous service improvement and efficiencies within the platform.

As a Cloud Engineer you will be part of a Digital Engineering practice though will be deployed into a fast paced, high change and technically complex Service Lines supporting business critical infrastructure and will be expected to collaborate with highly skilled and experienced digital professionals from multiple disciplines and capabilities. The role will be expected to operate within Agile, Product based working practices and will therefore have experience and a good understanding of operating within Agile methodologies such as DevOps, Scrum, LESS and KANBAN.

Key responsibilities include:

Implements and configures prioritised infrastructure changes and maintenance routines

Uses cloud native infrastructure management tools to determine load and performance statistics and security events and takes necessary action to prevent any impact to service

Ensures Products are engineered / maintained to achieve Service Line commitments, integrate with the enterprise toolchain and are capable of providing meaningful automated health and performance metrics

Identifies operational issues and contributes to their resolution and prevention

Configures tools and / or creates scripts to automate the provisioning, testing and deployment of new and changed infrastructure

Maintains operational procedures and checks that they are executed following agreed standards

Participate and lead on Community of Practice initiatives to enhance the capabilities maturity, effectiveness and value

What does it take to be a Cloud Engineer?

Experience of configuring and maintaining Cloud a cloud platform and services e.g. Amazon Web Service, Azure (preferred) and Google Cloud Platform

Proficient in an Infrastructure coding language (YAML, Python, PowerShell, JSON, BICEP) and tooling (Ansible/Terraform etc)

Recognised Microsoft certification or significant experience

Understanding of Agile delivery frameworks and methodologies

Working Knowledge of Service Management processes, specifically Change, Incident, Event, Configuration and Problem Management
