The CGI Project Services Team are seeking to recruit a dedicated Cloud Consultant to work in a dynamic and challenging environment with a pedigree of Server Management excellence.
The main objectives of the role are to implement changes that achieve a high level of client satisfaction, delivering on time, within budget and to a high standard.
To deliver solutions into CGI and 3rd party Data Centres, to meet planned timescales.
Duties will also include ensuring that all necessary support documentation is amended to reflect any implementation made and ensure handover and knowledge transfer to onshore and offshore support teams.
Change control procedures are to be adhered to at all times.
The successful candidate must be able to work on own initiative and under guidance from senior team members. There may be a need to work in a CGI Office, home based or on customers sites on occasions.
The role requires the candidate to be a AWS Cloud SME:
Configure specific cloud based environments to meet project delivery timescales; this entails installation, patching and configuration by following documented Low Level Designs and best practices.
Perform out of hours change work as and when required.
Provide documentation and information to hand servers over into BAU
Perform OS Install / Patching / Firmware updates inline with best practices.
1) Linux Fundamentals and Scripting Skills
Must understand Linux fundamentals, such as file handling, system administration, text processing and process management.
They should also have proficiency in scripting languages, such as Python.
2) Knowledge of Relevant Tools and Technologies
Version control, continuous integration servers, configuration management, containers and deployment automation are just a few of the DevOps tools engineers should be comfortable with.
They should also be knowledgeable of infrastructure orchestration, testing and cloud quality tools, monitoring and analytics, and network protocols.
3) Cloud Skills
A DevOps engineer should have ideally, a solid cloud computing skillset, such as database management and network management.
They must also have an understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS) *preferred or Google Cloud Platform (GPC) / Microsoft Azure experience and knowledge.
4) Coding Skills
Should be knowledgeable of Node.js and programming languages like JSON, HashiCorp Configuration Languages (HCL), YAML, Java, Javascript, Ruby, Shell, Bash and PHP.
5) Automation Skills
They must understand infrastructure and configurations, CI/CD pipelines, app performance monitoring and more.
Knowledge of automation tools like Source Code Management (SCM) and Ansible is also important.
6) Testing Skills
Should be knowledgeable of virtualization and proficient in testing tools, such as Chef and Docker, execute tests for an entire DevOps automation pipeline as well as how to integrate Jenkins with Selenium.
7) Security Skills
Skills include code analysis, change management, threat investigation, security training and vulnerability assessment, just to name a few.
8) Proactive Monitoring Skills
Use of monitoring tools, for example like Nagios and Splunk, and they should also have the capacity to recognize bottlenecks in the production system, pave security patches and upgrade system versions.
9) Containerization Skills
A few examples include Docker Engine, LXC, container registries, Docker Swarm, systemd-nspawn and Kubernetes.
10) Version Management Skills
Understanding how to use tools like Jenkins, Maven and Git.
It is also important that DevOps technicians are knowledgeable of DevOps tools like GitHub and software development practices such as continuous delivery.
Understanding of the agile methodology and framework, Infrastructure as Code (IAC) and provisioning.
The candidate must:
Have the ability to following detailed implementation plans.
Maintain CGI security and documentation standards (ISO90001 AND ISO27001).
Have good communication skills, both verbal and written.
