Job Description:

We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Cloud Security Architect to join our cybersecurity team at Southern Company. In this role, you will play a key part in the ongoing development of our security architecture, with a specific focus on Azure and Oracle Cloud environments. As a Cloud Security Architect, you will be responsible for developing creative solutions to meet business needs while ensuring the implementation of appropriate security controls and best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the ongoing development of Southern Companys security architecture, specifically focused on Azure and Oracle Cloud environments.
  • Identify areas of opportunity, research alternatives, and recommend solutions to enhance security.
  • Develop and implement creative solutions that align with business needs while adhering to security controls and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve information security issues.
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead information security projects, ensuring successful execution from concept through implementation.
  • Educate and guide customers on applying information security concepts, processes, and technologies.
  • Stay current on information security concepts, technologies, and practices.
  • Mentor team members to strengthen cybersecurity principles and best practices.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree or 5 years of work experience in cybersecurity or a relevant field.
  • Expert-level working knowledge of securing Azure cloud infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience designing, architecting, and implementing various information security tools/products.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of information security concepts and best practices (NIST, COBIT, ISO, PCI, OWASP, etc.).
  • Experience conducting detailed information security risk assessments and recommending mitigating controls.
  • Industry certification preferred (CISSP, CCSP, CISA, GIAC, etc.).

Requirements:

  • Awareness of energy industry trends, opportunities, and challenges.
  • Strong technical consulting experience with the ability to understand business requirements and present appropriate solutions.
  • Effective communication of both technical and business requirements.
  • Critical and independent thinking with a demonstrated ability to conceive and present creative solutions.
  • Foundational knowledge of modern operating system concepts.
  • Ability to lead projects from concept through implementation and anticipate potential problems.
  • Experience prioritizing and executing tasks with minimal direction or oversight.
  • Must pass NERC CIP & Insider Threat Protection background checks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Azure and Oracle cloud certifications.
  • Competency in APIs (Rest, Graph), JavaScript/JSON, Kubernetes, or SQL.
  • Working knowledge of securing Oracle cloud infrastructure.
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CISA, GIAC, OSCP, CRISC, CCNP, etc.
  • Experience with software development, programming, code reviews, and application vulnerability remediation.
  • Proficiency in one or more coding languages (C#, Python, Java, JavaScript).
  • Experience with development platforms and CI/CD tools (TFS/ADO/Git, Jenkins).
  • Familiarity with information security frameworks such as MITRE, NIST, OWASP, etc.
  • Basic budgeting, accounting, and financial skills.
  • Awareness of nation-state, sophisticated criminal, and supply chain threats.
  • Data science or analytics experience in threat intelligence and security logs.
  • Working knowledge of SIEM, cloud compliance, and identity management.
  • Experience promoting security as a business enablement function through influence, metrics, documentation, and strong communication skills.
