Job Description

This role is contingent upon award. MindPoint Group is seeking an enthusiastic Cloud Security Engineer to help a federal client monitor and secure their cloud footprint against would-be attackers. You will have a passion for and experience with being a Cloud Security expert in a large, enterprise environment and augment the team-s knowledge and skills across major cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud) to develop alerting and response procedures for cloud events and perform monitoring and incident response.

What you get to do every day:

  • Support agency security workflows by performing analysis (e.g., DLP, SafeLinks, log file reviews)

  • Configure, implement and maintain security tools

  • Analyze security tools (e.g., Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure Information Protection) to ensure they align with FRTIB policies and procedures and are properly configured (ex. Microsoft Secure Score, Guard Duty, etc).

  • Continuously research, engineer, and recommend areas for improvement to the agency-s security environment and toolset

  • Support incident response and security operations by coordinating with the client's service providers and the client during investigations

  • Develop and run security tests on cloud resources (ex. Data loss prevention, security configuration) using native tools.

  • Review and analyze cloud logs to bring relevance and context to the data

  • Lead cloud incident response activities as they occur

  • Develop a full set of cloud incident response playbooks

  • Work with stakeholders to ensure full visibility into workloads running in the cloud

  • Ensure all cloud logs are onboarded to the agency-s SIEM tool and the correct events are logged

  • Continuously tune security tools for optimization, i.e., maximum blocking with minimal false positives

  • Devise and implement additional KPIs and metrics that help the client monitor the overall health of this function

  • Assist the engineering team with the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of cloud-based tools, technologies, applications, and solutions

  • Perform research and lead proof of concept efforts to determine where additional technologies may be necessary

  • Perform analysis of proposed changes to security controls

Qualifications

US Citizenship, Public Trust Eligibility required

What skills are required?

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.

  • Eight (8) years of general experience and six (6) years IT Security experience, preferably in a security engineering or cloud engineering role.

  • Certification(s) in information technology security that meets or exceeds DoD 8570 IAM Level II.

  • Experience with Azure

  • Experience implementing Networking Security

  • Experience securing Active Directory

  • Experience securing computer, storage, and databases

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills including the ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders.

  • Experience with NIST 800 series publications.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills that include the ability to describe highly technical concepts in non-technical terms

  • Understanding of recent cybersecurity policies and mandates such as EO 14028, M-21-31, NSM-8.

What is ideal?

  • Advanced-level Cloud Security certifications are strongly preferred

  • Experience with cloud architecture

  • Experience across all major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google) is a plus

Location:

  • This role will be hybrid in nature with regular on-site presence a few times a week in Washington, DC.

  • Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. The salary range for this position is typically $150-165k. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
