Your part in our journey:

The Lead Cloud Database Engineer is a member of the Cloud Operations and Engineering team, which is an integral part of IT support within Shell Energy. Joining our team will open an exciting opportunity for you to work with enterprise class cloud services which are used by our software delivery teams and other business users.

What you’ll need to help you make the best of the role:

Excellent working knowledge of the AWS cloud database and storage solutions, including; Amazon RDS, Amazon RDS Aurora, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, S3, EBS.

Infrastructure as code and coding languages such as Terraform

Excellent working knowledge of database engines/technologies (PostgresSQL, MySQL, Cassandra, Oracle or MS SQL Server)

Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code and a full understanding of CI/CD tools.

Experience with a broad range of AWS services and open source technologies is essential.

AWS IaaS and PaaS services

AWS networking concepts, such as VPCs, load balancing, security groups

Configuration management solutions such as Puppet and Foreman

Proficient in at least one scripting language

Networking concepts and network protocols including IP, TCP, UDP, HTTP, TLS

Security concepts, technologies and tools

Monitoring tools, logging, metrics and alarms

Familiarity with DevOps culture, methodologies and tools

Familiarity with Agile development, deployment concepts, methodologies and tools

Experience with open source software solutions
